MOTHER 3 is an RPG created by Shigesato Itoi for the Game Boy Advance, and was released exclusively in Japan on April 20th, 2006.
It's the third and final installment within it's series; it's predecessors - MOTHER 1 and MOTHER 2 - are more formally known as "Earthbound Beginnings" and "Earthbound" respectively to western audiences.
At the time of writing, the game has yet to see any official localization by Nintendo outside of Japan.
Developed by Brownie Brown and HAL Laboratory, the game had a notoriously troublesome and long development cycle - spanning across 12 years!
It began as a game for the Super Famicom in 1994, but development gradually shifted on to the Nintendo 64 and 64DD, before this initial project was eventually cancelled altogether in 2001.
Following strong encouragement from the fanbase, plans of MOTHER 3's redevelopment for the GBA were announced in 2003 alongside the release of MOTHER 1+2.
Along with a brief prologue, the game's story has 8 chapters in total.
